The Imo Economy Study (T.I.E.S) Network

The Imo Economy Study (TIES) is an interactive network that recognises that it takes studious and diligent minds to uncover and understand the peculiarities and patterns of economies. The main objective of TIES is to push for closer attention to the economy in Imo state and gain a better understanding of its key players, enablers, constraints and resources.

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Albert  Einstein

TIES Network hosts monthly seminars/lectures on critical economic issues relevant to Imo State – e.g., job creation, economic growth, and poverty reduction. It will explore deep and probing questions and draw from a variety of intellectual resources within Imo State and those with an interest of understanding its economy.  TIES Network is voluntary and driven by both intellectual curiosity and pragmatic solutions. It is a neutral, non-partisan, thought leadership network and its core objective is to inform and advance policies and practices relevant to the sustainable development of the economy in Imo State.

Although the TIES Network is initiated by the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the Imo State Government, it aims to remain as objective as possible all the time and seeks to be as practical as it can be so as to encourage advancement in policies and practices relevant to the sustainable development of the economy.

The TIES webinars are expected to cover various topics centred on issues critical to the success of the Imo economy such as agriculture, retail, technology, arts and craft, entertainment and lots more. TIES has officially kicked off with the first webinar on Agribusiness opportunities in Imo state.

Overall, these are welcome developments from the state. As rightly noted by Lao Tzu, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. Thus, with consistency and continuous inclusivity, open discussions and collaborations with the private sector, the journey to revitalize the economy of Imo State is on the course, and we expect to see improvements in the unemployment and underemployment rates in the State.
